DOUBLE INDEMNITY RIDER
1.The Rider
This Rider is attached to the Basic Policy and forms a part of the insurance contract, and shall not be effective unless it is included in the application or endorsement for the Basic Policy and approved by the Company. If the provisions of the Basic Policy and the Rider are in conflict, the provision of this Rider shall prevail.
The Rider shall not become effective without the assured items of this Rider stated in the application or endorsement.
If the Insured's age is below 18, this Rider shall not be effective. The name of this Rider is known as Double Indemnity Rider, or abbreviated as DI.
2. Benefit Provision
The amounts payable under the Accidental Death, Dismemberment and Major Bum Benefit shall be doubled if the accident defined in article 10 of Basic Policy is sustained while the Insured is riding solely as a fare paying passenger and not as an operator or crew member in any Public Transportation or while the Insured encounter a fire in Hospital or School.
3. Benefit Provision
The Company will pay the same sum after paying the sum assured subject to and in accordance with the Basic Policy if, while this Rider is in force, the Insured shall sustain the accident defined in article 2(above).
4. Termination
This Rider shall automatically be terminated on the earliest of the following:
(1) the Basic Policy is terminated;
(2) the Rider expires and the Company refuses to renew it;
(3) the Rider is discharged by the Policy owner.
Notes:
In case of (2), this Rider shall automatically be terminated on 24:00 of the expired date.
5. Definition
(1) School: shall mean an institution, other than nursery and kindergarten, which meets all the following requirements:
(A) holds a license as a school;
(B) provides 8-hour a day education courses;
(C) has a permanent place for routine education activity.
(2)Public Transportation: shall mean any mechanically propelled conveyance operated on a regular schedule licensed to carry passengers in return for money and irrespective of passenger class. (Public bus. Trolley, Taxi, Railcar, Aerotrain, Steamship, Ferry, Helicopter and Airport shuttle bus)
The definition just focus on Public Service Transportation.
